If you have upgraded (as I have) from an A500/A600, have you come
across those exellent games you have that won't work on your new
machine?
Well don't worry, as AMIGA FORMAT have come to the rescue with
some GAME FIXES on their coverdisks!
On the NOVEMBER ISSUE you can find fixes for POWERMONGER (+WW1)
JIMMY WHITES SNOOKER and R-TYPE !
and on the AUGUST ISSUE you can find fixes for SPEEDBALL 2,
HEIMDALL, SHADOWLANDS and LAST NINJA 3
Please remember that if you have PIRATE copies of these games,
the fixes WON'T work ! ! ! !
--------------------------------------------------------------------
If any of you out there fancy writing some articles for CHANNEL Z,
Write what you want about the A1200 or indeed anything to do with
the AMIGA "SCENE" in general and send it to me at the address at the
top of the page and if I include your article on an Issue of the
Disk Mag, I will send you the Issue for FREE !
Have you entered the FORMULA ONE GRAND PRIX competition yet?
All you have to do is design a CHANNEL Z LOGO that is about the same
size as this :->
--------------------------------------------

CHANNEL Z A1200 DISK MAGAZINE

CHANNEL Z A1200 DISK MAGAZINE

--------------------------------------------
All the logo needs to say is CHANNEL Z but you may include your
name or sign in the finished artwork, I am interested in designs
that look futuristic or are Cyber, Industrial but I will judge all
entries on their content and style.
It must be in LOW RES and only in 16 colours, and if you are the
winner, I will use your artwork on ALL further issues of CHANNEL Z
and you will win FORMULA ONE GRAND PRIX by MICROPROSE !
PLUS I will send you the first issue to include your artwork !
So come on get drawing and send those disks to me!
(If you include a stamped addressed envelope, I will send your disk
back to you when the competition has ended).
The closing date for the competition has been extended as I have had
some really good entries and I am having trouble getting through
them, so you now have until JANUARY 30th 1994 to get your drawings
to me, and the winning logo will appear on Issue 4 of CHANNEL Z !
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I'm getting ready to jet off on my holidays! Its customary
here in Blackpool to wait until the end of the season and then fly
off somewhere HOT and EXOTIC (well Benidorm!) for plenty of
SUN SEA and SE-oops sorry FUN ! ! ! !
I'll be thinking of my poor old AMY sitting there in storage in a
Warehouse (I hope they treat her well, or there will be no more
CHANNEL Z ! ! !)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
It has come to our attention that there have been a few rogue VIRUS
KILLERS released in the Public Domain, These are actually BAD
versions of GOOD VIRUS KILLERS, the ones to look out for are,
VIRUS Z version 3.12 and 3.16 and VIRUS CHECKER version 6.31
If you come accross these versions of the above VIRUS KILLERS, I
strongly suggest you format the disks that they are on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
While your all sitting their reading this, spare a thought for me!
I have had to type all this out twice as the first one I did, ended
up on an unreadable disk, and there was'nt a Disk repairer that I
tried that could fix it, so this Issue could be called 2.01 !
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Bad luck to England who lost their World Cup match against Holland
in October. It looks like there won't be any World Cup Football
games for the A1200 coming out next year ! !
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A question that I have been asked alot lately is "Hows CHANNEL Z
put together, are there any special utilities involved ?"
The answer to this question is CHANNEL Z is put together using
the following Utilities :->
Workbench 3.0 (especially the SHELL)
Deluxe Paint
KeyMapEd
Fullview
NoisePlayer
Protext
Picshow and Picend
PPshow
Powerpacker
Setmap
So, now you know!
My hardware setup is a standard 2 meg A1200 with NO external disk
drives or hard drive!
Each file or program that is going onto the disk is first copied
into RAM: and then copied onto the Master disk for the next Issue,
all this is done using the SHELL on WORKBENCH 3.0
Each Issue takes around Seven weeks from the disk being formatted to
the Issue being tested and ready for release.
I have been asked to put the Mag onto TWO disks but I am not going
to do this until some more of you write to me and tell me what you
think of this idea. (see ordering for more info on this)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Before I go I will tell you what you can find on this disk,
I have included the new version of D-COPY (V3.1)
and have also included the latest version of VIRUS-CHECKER for you
to play with, VIRUS CHECKER ties in with our feature this month,
on VIRI, Those nasty programs that Eat away at your DATA.
You will also find the new version of the workbench hack called
AMEKO, if you copy this on to your workbench disk (the file is
called AMEKO_AGA) the Ameko cat will become coloured in, plus there
is the exellent KILLAGA program!
Also on the disk is a small Quiz that you may find amusing and
a competition to win the next Issue of CHANNEL Z.
The Question for this is very annoying ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
If you press SHIFT and F9 on the main menu, you will be presented
with the "Games Menu" that contains SIX games, including TETRIS
PACMAN and more!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks to NBS for sending Issue 1 for a review in CU AMIGA !
They said some nice things about the mag !
The last line of the review was rather reasuring .......
"THIS COULD BE THE START OF SOMETHING BIG!" (I hope so)
